Nigerian troops in the early hours of Friday finally routed Boko Haram terrorists from Bara, the Headquarters of Gulani Local Government Area of Yobe State and Gulak, the Headquarters of Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Defence Spokesman,Major General Chris Olukolade, has said.
“The fierce fighting that preceded the clearing of towns and other communities resulted in appreciable casualties on the terrorists, the capture of some of them, the recovery and destruction of arms, thousands of assorted rounds ammunition as well as vehicles and other equipment including; Anti-Aircraft Guns, General Purpose Machine Guns (GPMGs), Grenades, Multi-barrel bombs, Multi-barrel Grenade Launchers, rifles and mortar guns,” the spokesman disclosed in a statement.
According to him, other locations also cleared in the course of the two days operation include, Shikah, Fikayel, Tetebah, Buza, Kamla and Bumsa.
The Nigerian military has developed fresh sinews and have been able to achieve tremendous progress in two weeks of its surge against the deadly Boko Haram insurgents.
In this short space of time many towns hitherto at the hands of the insurgents have been liberated, their weapons recoverd and many of them killed.
in fact, security experts believe that the insurgents have been destabilize and are resorting to guerrilla attacks to sustain their evil agenda.
