I have refrained from commenting on the Father Mbaka saga. This is because I have no regard for such characters using religion to prey on the vulnerability, the poverty and fears of our people plagued by superstition. Shouting magic and miracle, signs and wonders, these disillusioned people, seeking fulfilments from any power, rush to any manisfestation of hope.
There lies the personality cult where the miracle worker becomes god to his fortune seekers and God is far remove…d. The new god, the miracle worker or magician controls the people’s lives, their marriages, their businesses, social and political lives. I know this because I nearly fell victim but was saved by my knowledge of the bible, Africa and education. But there are millions out there who have become prey to these monsters playing games with our people’s lives in an evironment of fear. But all I will say is that the last battle for the soul of Igboland is here and that battle is Islam.
This is a coordinated plan by Islamic Northerners and the larger Islamic nations for about 30 years as Pastor Thompson of Maryland, Ikeja, Lagos told me and Sam Eyoboka few years back. As Boko Haram ravages Christians of the North East, the middle belt is also under attack, while South west will be an easy target because of an Islamic presence.
For Igboland, Thompson said the plan is to buy the people with cash, favours and others like schools, sholarships, contracts etc. Notable Igbo figures will be worked on or bought over for the actualisation of an Islamist state in Nigeria. Already, all these are ongoing in Igboland. Whether in the garb of Mbaka urging votes for an Islamist, or governors building mosques with state funds or donating millions to Islamic converts, or building moslem schools in Ebonyi or Igbo Moslem monarchs visited by Moslem governors, they are all part of the plan. I say these so that our people will know what they are up against. The Mbaka case is part of that plan: to confuse the people and open up the area for a final take over by Islam.
