Manchester United will celebrate Wayne Rooney’s goals record with an exhibition at the club’s Old Trafford museum.
The England striker broke Sir Bobby Charlton’s long-standing record at the club with his 250th United goal in the draw at Stoke last month.
Now United are planning on unveiling a Rooney section, highlighting his 13 years at the club.
Set to be launched at the end of the season, various shirts, boots and memorabilia will be showcased, alongside photographs and clips from his Red Devils’ career.
Additionally, a rolling video will show all 250 (and counting) of his United goals.
United greats such as Charlton, Ryan Giggs and Denis Law already have their own exhibitions at the museum, which looks to blend a state-of-the-art interactive experience with historical exhibits.
The Giggs exhibit, entitled Ryan Giggs: The Man For All Seasons , was opened in 2015 and contains over 40 exclusive items including his 1999 treble medals and the ball with which he scored his first United goal.
Rooney’s long-term future remains less certain however.
The 31-year-old striker is no longer a guaranteed regular starter under Jose Mourinho and has big-money offers from China on the table to make him the world’s highest-paid player.
The transfer window in China doesn’t close until the end of the month, and Mourinho has insisted Rooney will remain until the end of the season.
United are in the EFL Cup final, still going strong in the FA Cup and Europa League and are also in top four contention in the Premier League.
And Rooney believes Mourinho can restore United back to the pinnacle of the English game.
“He’s obviously a top manager – I think his record at all the clubs he’s been at shows that,” the club’s all-time top scorer said.
“I think he knows what he wants from the players, and the players know what the manager wants from them.
“He’s strong in that sense but as long as you’re doing what he wants, then I’m sure you’ll be fine.
“I think you can see he has got a winning mentality – not that we didn’t have that already, but he’s certainly reminded us of that.”
