A 42-year-old man, Emeka Okere, has been remanded in prison custody by an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court in Lagos over allegations of armed robbery.
The Magistrate, Mrs Abimbola Komolafe, ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison custody pending an advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution, DPP.
The accused, who is unemployed and resides at 16, Alhaji Yusuf Adebayo Street, Olodi Apapa, is facing a two count-charge of conspiracy and armed robbery.
According to the prosecutor, Eranus Nnamonu, the accused attacked his victims, Messer Ebere Nwagboso and Chike Onuorah on September 14 at 5.40p.m., on the Apapa Expressway, Lagos.
He said the defendant shot at Nwagboso twice and dispossessed Onuorah of is Sports Utility Vehicle.
Nnamonu said: “The defendants, in company of some others still at large, attacked Onuorah and Nwagboso on the highway, and dispossessed them of their valuables, including a sports utility vehicle, SUV, valued at N6 million.
“They manhandled their victims, forcefully collected other personal item, after which they shot Nwagboso on his left hand and leg. Okeke was apprehended at Berger, Apapa following a police tip off. “
Subsequently, Magistrate Komolafe adjourned the matter to February 12, 2015, while awaiting Department of Public Prosecution, DPP’s advice.
