Barcelona assembled a 6-1 trouncing of La Liga team Rayo Vallecano earlier today, and it was the sort of outing many have come to assume from FCB.
A 1-0 loss to Malaga on Feb.21 had disrupted the winning ways of Barca, but including this victory, the Spanish giant has currently gathered a four-game win streak in all competitions.
Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez scored five times in the match, a total that accounted for about 83 percent of their side’s scoring. The ex-Liverpool man has spearheaded his strongest attacking surge of the season, as he tallied eight goals in the past five matches.
Tied with Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo‘s 30 goals, Messi, as usual, finds himself as one of the highest scorers in Spain’s top division.
Barcelona manager Luis Enrique noted that pair has demonstrated their high-caliber ability, and Barca’s €81 million fee for the Uruguayan speaks to thus purpose.
“Suarez and Messi are having more and more chemistry, and today we all saw what they bring to the team,” Enrique said, via Sky Sports.
Meanwhile, the win for Barcelona signals another step closer toward a 23rd league crown, but Enrique believes the ultimate objective is far down the road. In that sense, there are still many games that could present a threat to Blaugrana’s towering expectations.
“We’re elated, but the objective is to be leading at the end of the season,” Enrique said to the club’s official website.“I’ve already said that everybody can lose games, so we have to keep playing well and win every match….It’s heavy having to win every single match. Each game is more important than the last.”
In the league table, Barcelona have jumped Real Madrid for the lead since Los Blancos faltered in a 1-0 loss to Athletic on Saturday.
