Former Lagos State Commissioner for Health and 2015 governorship aspirant, Dr Leke Pitan, on Tuesday, formally declared his ambition to become the next governor of the state on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC).
He promised an eight-point agenda that would focus on human capital development for all citizens in the state.
Pitan gave this promise at the event, which took place at Onikan Stadium, Obalende, and attended by political associates, party faithful, Muslims and Christian clerics, who offered special prayers for him on his aspiration, continued peace for the state and Nigeria, before, during and after the election; various artistes led by Saheed Balogun, among others.
This is just as he promised to deliver 20,000 jobs within his first 100 days in office, with 1,000 jobs per local government. Lagos State has 20 local governments as specified in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
According to Pitan, who said he remained the most qualified for the job in terms of local and international exposure, as well as progressive politicking right through the days of Afenifere/Alliance for Democracy (AD), his administration’s human capital development will be to ensure the continued “delivery of Lagos Promises” along the line set by former Governors Lateef Jakande and Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as well as the incumbent, Mr Babatunde Fashola.
The former commissioner, however, stated that his administration’s human capital development programme would be driven by two very essential and core pillars, including socio-economic investments and physical environment re-engineering.
