A member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Ifako/Ijaiye Constituency 2, Ipoola Omisore, has said that his recently launched book titled, “Thoughtful and Thoughtless Thoughts” was published to encourage reading culture among Nigerians.
The book was launched at the weekend at the Eko FM Multi-purpose Hall, LTV 8 Compound in Ikeja, Lagos.
Omisore who is the Chairman, House Committee on Special Duties and House Services, disagreed with the notion that Nigerians do not cultivate the idea of reading.
He explained that what brought about such belief was that “Nigerians are sorrowful but when you put a lot of sarcastic tendencies into your book, they would read.”
He disclosed that a United States representative in Nigeria, has shown interest in the book, having realised one of the ways the social media could be turned into positive use.
He said: “A United States representative has told me part of the advantages of the book has to do with challenges in family and marriage lives. The book is an antidote to the problem of collapsed marriages. It is an encyclopaedia of knowledge.”
He explained that he had no intention of compiling his facebook postings but that the thought came when he realised that his views and opinions on contemporary Nigeria would be a waste if not properly documented.
