The Lagos State Chairman of the PDP, Chief Tunji Shelle, on Saturday commended members of the party for the peaceful conduct of the party’s ward congresses in the state.
The PDP ward congresses were held simultaneously nationwide.
Shelle said the leadership of the party was elated by the hitch free congresses that were devoid of rancour and violence.
“The state leadership of our great party wishes to commend our members and to urge them to replicate the same comportment at the upcoming local government congresses.
“PDP is a party of peace. We may have had one or two disagreements at the congresses, but those were swiftly settled in a family manner.
“There is nowhere in the world that congresses or any form of election will hold without one or two persons, who lost, complaining,” he said.
Shelle, however, promised that all complaints would be treated with all seriousness to determine the truth and handle them accordingly.
“We will always give listening ears to all members. That is what we stood for and will always stand for.
“Our officers, who conducted the congresses, were warned to adhere strictly to the party’s guidelines which they did.
“We are happy today that despite speculations of bloodshed, fueled by the opposition, the congresses ended well,” he said.
NAN reports that the congresses were held in 245 wards of the party in the state.
