Following the ugly incident that took the lives of three citizens last Wednesday at Ojuelegba when a container-laden articulated vehicle lost control and fell off of atop bridge, the Lagos State Government has threatened to impound any long vehicles found plying the metropolis between the hours of 6am to 9pm.
The directive according to the State Government is in strict compliance with the Lagos road traffic law of 2012.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Oluseyi Whenu, said there have been too many accidents involving tankers, trailers and other long vehicles resulting to loss of lives.
He said the state will no longer tolerate such situations insisting that any offender will be apprehended.
Three people had died on Wednesday, after an unlatched articulated vehicle carrying a 40-foot container fell off a bridge at Ojuelegba, Lagos. The horrific incident, which occurred during the 5 p.m. rush hour, saw two vehicles mutilated under the weight of the container.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency confirmed the death toll, and added that rescue efforts were still ongoing.
