Lagos State deputy governor, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, yesterday lost her father, Prince Jimoh Kareem-Laka Orelope, who was aged 101. A statement signed by the special assistant (media) to the deputy governor, Mr Tunde Abatan, said the devout Islamic and community leader and politician in Lagos State died in his residence of an undisclosed ailment. The statement said, “He was born to Akeja Oniyanru and Olugbede royal families of Lagos State on the 25th of February, 1913. “Pa Jimoh Laka would be remembered for his philanthropic gestures to the less privileged and his commitment to community development as well as the propagation of the Islamic faith. “A politician of high repute, he is survived by a wife, children, grand children and great grand- children among who is the incumbent deputy governor of Lagos State, Her Excellency, Hon Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire.” It said the late politician will be buried today.
