Kwara State Police Command has warned against bringing into the state any material outside the ones backed up by electoral law, saying such material could affect the 2015 general election from being free and fair.
The command said such material should not be brought before, during and after the election, as he warned that anyone caught in the act would be decisively dealt with according to the law.
The state Commissioner of Police, Salihu Garba, who gave the warning at an inter-agency consultative committee on election security/stakeholders meeting organised by its command in Ilorin on Wednesday, enjoined politicians to play the game according to the rule.
Garba said the security agencies in the state are prepared to create a level playing ground for all the political parties on matters of security and ensure that the peace in state is not disrupted during the election.
He said there was the need for politicians, security agencies and all other stakeholders to prepare to face the challenges of having free, fair and credible elections.
State chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Faruk Akanbi, who also spoke at the occasion, called for mop up of proliferated arms and ammunition in the hands of miscreants in the state.
Akanbi said security agencies should treat politicians in the state equally, adding that there should not be special security for anyone among them, be it those in power or those with Federal Government connection.
The NLC boss also advised security agencies to embark on stop-and-search of vehicles to discourage proliferation of arms, adding that INEC should also be unbiased umpire before, during and after the election.
In his contribution, the FRSC representative at the consultative meeting enjoined politicians not to use their billboards to obstruct traffic on major roads in the state.
