The United Nations (UN) Secretary-General, Mr. Ban Ki-moon is billed to visit Nigeria.
This was made public by a statement from the Public Communications Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja, said Ki-moon would be visiting Nigeria from August 23-24, 2015.
The statement added that during the visit, Ki-moon would have a dialogue and dinner with state governors under the theme, “Pathways to a new Nigeria: Role of Sub-National Governments,” including the laying of wreath to commemorate the 4th anniversary of the Boko Haram attack on the UN House, Abuja.
In the course of the visit, Ki-moon would also have a field visit to Kuje Area Council, dialogue and lunch with Nigerian business actors under the theme: “The role of Nigerian Business and Economy in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and addressing Climate Change.”
In addition, Ki-moon would also have a dialogue on Democracy, Sustainable Development, and Countering Violent Extremism.
The highpoint of the visit, according to the statement, would be his meeting with the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Mr. Muhammadu Buhari which would be rounded up with a joint press conference.
