Work will go at rocket pace in the ministry
The new Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachichikwu, gave indication Wednesday that he might review the appointments of heads of parastatals..
Kachikwu who was Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, up till his inauguration as minister said that he would be working closely with all heads of the agencies in the next couple of months so that they could understand the change agenda of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
The minister, who spoke while addressing members of staff, and all the heads of agencies of the ministry shortly after assumption of office, said each of the managing directors would have to prove that he or she posseses the capacity to deliver on the change mantra that the new administration is looking for.
According to him, the ministry has lost a lot momentum as a result of the goings-on in the past.
Kachikwu said that work is going to be at rocket pace to achieve directional change with a view to mapping out very clear deliverables.
The minister, who sought the corporation of the ministry’s staff for a cordial working relationship.
“The minister’s portfolio is not one of just being in charge of NNPC, but being in charge of the total number of subsidiaries which are critical in the delivery of the main objectives of government,” he said.
He also harped on the importance cutting cost as well as strategically devising means to increase earnings for the country.
Earlier in her address, the newly appointed Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mrs. Jemila Shuwara, congratulated the minister particularly for distinguishing himself in the course of the ministerial screening on the floor of the Senate Chamber
