e of the main characters of Chelsea’s horror show of a 2015-16 season was our trusty midfield general, Nemanja Matic. Looking a shadow of his title-winning ‘Spiderbeast’ self, Matic saw significantly fewer minutes than the previous campaign; his season was capped off with a goal against Sunderland in the third-to-last gameweek, which he blatantly refused to celebrate, thus sparking rumours of him being ‘unsettled’ at the club.

According to a report from Sport Italia’s ‘transfer expert’, Alfredo Pedulla, Juventus are looking at Matic to bolster their midfield ranks, especially with injuries to Claudio Marchisio and Sami Khedira (or Khedira being Khedira), and various Premier League clubs rumoured to be circling around young Stefano Sturaro. Pedulla insists that this prospective transfer would have nothing to do with Paul Pogba’s situation, and claims that Juventus are willing to meet Chelsea’s apparent 20 million valuation of the Serbian midfielder.
Even if Matic was unsettled last season, Chelsea are about to journey a new path with a new manager and would surely think twice before letting go of him. Nevertheless, this is a situation to keep an eye on as silly season shenanigans continue.
