President Goodluck Jonathan has tasked the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to work to stop the wanton destruction of lives and property on the roads through avoidable accidents.
Jonathan, who gave the task at the 12th National Summit of the Special Marshals, in Abuja on Friday, lamented that in spite of his administration’s efforts to construct and repair roads across the country, there has been an increase in road crashes.
The President represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim, charged Nigerians to join hands with the FRSC to reduce road crashes.
According to him, “We must all say no to the menace which road crashes cause to road users, especially the wanton destruction of lives of the young and most productive segment of the national population as well as the economic losses to the nation.
“The Federal Government in its determination to bring succour to road users has been engaged in massive construction of roads and rehabilitation of the existing ones across the country.
