President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday sacked Mrs. Saratu Altine Umar from her post as the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) and replaced her with Mrs. Uju Aisha Hassan-Baba.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, in a statement, said the new Executive Secretary and Chief Executive had served previously as Director-General, Legal Aid Council of Nigeria, Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice in Anambra State and Director, Legal Services, Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment.
Jonathan thanked the out-going Executive Secretary and Chief Executive for her services and wished her well in her future endeavours.
President Goodluck Jonathan has wielded the big stick strongly since he lost the last March 28 presidential election to All Progressives Congress candidate Muhammad Buhari. APC has accused him of setting traps for its incoming administration by making such high profile changes in key positions of governance in the last days of his administration.
Analysts believe that the President has the constitutional right to make such appointments, but some say it might not be politically expedient.
