President Goodluck Jonathan is ahead of his main challenger, Gen. Mohammadu Buhari of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the first official result declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
From the results released in Ekiti State, President Jonathan polled 176,474 votes while the APC candidate, Gen, Buhari scored 120, 332 votes.
The PDP won all the three senatorial seats and 6 House of Reps seats in the state.
Declaring the results in Ado-Ekiti, Returning Officer for the presidential election and Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology (FUTA), Akure, Prof. Biyi Daramola, said President Jonathan won in all 16 local government councils in the state.
President Jonathan is also leading in Enugu, Benue and Nassarawa States while Buhari is ahead in Kano, Osun, FCT, Ogun and Ondo States.
Results from Enugu State showed that President Jonathan polled 23, 683 to Buhari’s 1,887 votes in Igbo-Eze South Local Government Council. PDP won the senatorial race 23, 066 votes to APC’s 1,997 and APGA’s 257.
The PDP also won the House of Representatives seat in the area with 21, 783 votes to beat APC with 1,868 and APGA’s 168.
PDP also won 21,700 votes in Ezeagu Local Government Area as against APC’s 407 in the presidential election.
In Isiuzo, PDP polled 21,225 while APC secured 239 votes. In Aninri, PDP scored 22,660 as against the 178 scored by the APC.
In Udi, Governor Sullivan Chime’s homestead, PDP polled 31,354 while APC polled
votes to 7,762 votes, according to the results released by the Returning Officer, Dr. Abdullahi Mohammed Evuti of the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Abuja.
He also announced that Buhari polled 15, 348 to beat the PDP candidate who scored 13,091 votes in the contest in the area council.
In Osun, Buhari beat Jonathan with 254, 739 to 168,476 votes .
In Benue State, Jonathan is ahead in Ogbadibo, Agatu, Ado, Okpokwu, Ohimiri local government areas.
The PDP candidate is also ahead in the results of four local government areas of Benue State Zone C announced so far.h
In Ogbadibo, the PDP polled 6937 to APC’s 6257.
In Agatu, PDP got 9,555 votes to APC ‘s 3,627. In Ado Councils the PDP scored 7, 382 to APC’s 2, 328.
It Okpokwu Local Government, PDP got 12,103 as against APC’s 4,757.
PDP also won in Ohimini Local Government, scoring 5909 to APC ‘s 4,734 votes.
President Goodluck Jonathan won in six out of nine local governments where results were declared.
Buhari is leading in 7 local government councils announced so far in Kano State.
The results announced by the returning officer, Professor Mohammed Hamisu, former Vice Chancellor of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, showed that in Albasu local government area APC scored 34,000 votes, while PDP polled 3,047 votes.
In Kibiya, APC posted 23,000 votes while PDP scored 4,999.
Also in Gabasawa council area, the APC received 31,000 votes, while the PDP polled 8, 840 votes.
In Bagwai local council, the APC scored 38,750 votes against PDP 8,159; Kunchi Council, the APC scored 24,542 votes as against PDP 2,921 votes.
In Tsanyawa local government area, APC polled 32,662 votes to PDP 4,819 while in Gaya local council, APC pulled 38,085 votes to PDP 1,888.
Buhari has won in the results of the nine local government councils announced in Kogi so far.
The APC presidential candidate also won the polls in the three local government areas of Sokoto State announced last night. They are Kware (APC 25,286, PDP 6,918); Dange/Shuni (APC 31,036, PDP 5,339) and Goronyo (APC 28,950, PDP 7664).
In Niger State, Governor Babangida Aliyu lost his bid to go to the senate. He lost to APC candidate, David Umaru. Aliyu scored 46, 459 votes to Umaru’s 149, 443 votes.
In Abia, Governor Theodore Orji won the election to represent Abia Central at the senate. He polled 65, 653 votes to beat APGA candidate, Emmanuel Nweke, who scored 46, 070 votes.
