Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan acknowledged the achievements of Governor Ibikunle Amosun at the rally of the Peoples Democratic Party in Abeokuta, Ogun state today.
Jonathan, who is campaigning for re-election, however said his party would build on the good work of Governor Amosun, who, political pundits agreed, has changed the face of the capital within less than four years. Amosun belongs to the opposition All Progressives Congress.
President Jonathan addressed the rally at the MKO Abiola International Stadium and praised Amosun for attracting 56 industries to the state, thus making the state, the most viable economically in terms of industrialisation.
He said his party would build on the good work of the incumbent governor,Ibikunle Amosun by ensuring that commercial agriculture is given top priority in his next government.
While addressing the scanty supporters at the stadium,the former governor of Ogun State,Otunba Gbenga Danel denied insinuation that he was at logger heads with the governorship candidate of the party,Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka.
He affirmed his total support and loyalty to both the party and all the PDP candidates and promised to collaborate with them to send Amosun out of office.
According to OGD,”They have been lying to you,they demolished your houses without adequate compensation.The good projects we have started in Ogun would have been continuous but the people made mistake by voting for the wrong person in 2011,now you people are suffering,
“Come February this year,we should all shine our eyes. Look for the umbrella,thumb there and by that,you have voted for Goodluck,you have voted for GNI and you have voted for good governance.
“I want to confirm to all the people of Ogun State that I endorsed Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka,GNI.He is our man and he is our next governor in Ogun State,come May 29,2015. I want to let you know that PDP owns Ogun State and we have returned to take over the State,”Daniel boasted.
Earlier in his welcome address,the National Chairman of the party,Alhaji Adamu Muazu posited that Ogun has a close affinity with PDP,saying it cannot be separated from one another.
He extolled the great virtues of the former President of Nigeria,Chief Olusegun Obasanjo,who was also the former Chairman, Board of Trustees,BoT of the party.
“Ogun State is more or less the capital of PDP in Nigeria. Our father,Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has laid a solid foundation which all his successors are building upon now,” Muazu,who was a former governor of Bauchi State said.
