President Muhammadu Buhari will on Thursday address a joint session of the National Assembly.
Speaker House of Representatives, Femi Gbabiamila had last week announced that Buhari had agreed to addresss the lawmakers after he meet with the president to communicate the request if the House.
He did not give a specific date the address will happen.
However, the President’s Personal Assistant on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie, via her official Twitter handle, on Monday confirned the Thursday date. .
“FireFLASHFire, FireFLASHFire President @MBuhari will address a joint session of the National Assembly (@nassnigeria) on Thursday 10th December 2020,” the president’s aide stated.
Buhari’s address will forcus on the worsening security situation in the country.
Nigerians were jolted by the killing of about 68farmers in Zambari, Borno State by members of the Boko Haram insurgents.
The people in the country are miffed by the general insecurity in the country despite the claims by President Buhari of being on top of the situation.
He had promised before the election that broughthim to office in 2015 to defeat Boko Haram militants within first few months of his administration. Five hears on, the security situation has worsened with Boko Haram still alife and strong, and other forns of insecurity- kidnappings, banditry, riual killings – have spread across the country.
