The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) disclosed that it would engage the services of the Nigerian Air Force, Navy and other security agents for adequate surveillance during the 2015 general elections in the country.
The commission’s resident electoral commissioner in Taraba State, Mr. Austin Okjie stated this in Jalingo while addressing the NYSC batch B corps members at the orientation camp.
He told the corps members that the move was necessary given the level of insecurity in the country.
“The commission is making arrangements with the Nigerian Airforce, Navy and other security agents to ensure safety of lives and property during the 2015 general elections.
“We expect Nigerians to understand that the engagement of security agents to maintain law and order is to enable us conduct a free, fair and acceptable election,” he said.
The resident electoral commissioner advised corps members to be patrotic when they would be participating in the elections.
