The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has served the governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, a quit notice, as the party has repositioned to reclaim its mandate in the 2015 election.
The national chairman of APGA, Victor Umeh, governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, and governorship aspirant, former Minister of Interior, Emmanuel Iheanacho, gave the quit notice during a rally in Owerri at the weekend.
Umeh, in his speech, expressed satisfaction with the level of preparedness showcased by APGA leaders in the state, which he attributed to the party’s determination to reclaim its mandate in the forthcoming general elections.
While charging party members to always work harmoniously towards actualising victory for APGA, Umeh also assured that only responsible and true Igbo sons and daughters without questionable background would be nominated as candidates of the party at different levels in the state, to avoid repeating the mistakes of the past.
Obiano, who was visibly elated, urged party members to remain steadfast and committed to the party’s victory in 2015, bearing in mind that APGA was formed to realise and protect Igbo interests.
He declared that it would be a difficult task for any other political party to defeat APGA in Imo, judging by its present strength and the grassroots support it enjoys in the state.
On his part, Iheanacho said that the party’s leaders and stakeholders have agreed to close ranks to ensure that APGA regains lost ground in 2015.
He promised to rewrite the story of the state in the areas of socio-economic development, job creation, women and youth empowerment, affordable and quality health care, industrialisation and quality education.
Highlights of the rally include the formal declaration of a close political ally of Okorocha and Pro-Chancellor, Imo State University, Clement Owunna, Hon. Ifeanyi Oguzie, former Transition and Executive chairman, Isu Loval Government Area, and others numbering over 5,000 from the ruling All Progressives Congress.
