A former director, special duties in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Alhaji Sagir Hamidu, has picked the declaration of intent and nomination forms in his bid to contest for the Zamfara State governorship seat on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The former director who picked his forms at the Wadata plaza headquarters of the PDP in Abuja, is expected to slug it out with about four other aspirants contesting for the party’s flag ahead of the 2015 governorship election in the state.
Other aspirants in the race for the party’s tickets are Alhaji Bashir Adamu, Dr Bello Muhammad Matawalle, Alhaji Ibrahim Shehu Gusau and the former governor of the state, Alhaji Mahmud Aliyu Shinkafi.
He said his decision to join the race at “this auspicious moment” was borne out of his desire to save the state and its people “from the shackles of poverty and underdevelopment which the APC-led government has visited on them”.
“There is urgent need to save the state and its people from years of suffering which they have to endure under the tyrannical rule of successive administrations, whether ANPP or APC.
“Someone has to make the sacrifice, and I’m ready to brave the odds,” he told newsmen.
