Katsina Integrity Forum has expressed concern over the campaign funding and expenditures of a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial aspirant, Alhaji Abdullahi Tsauri, popularly called Tata,
describing it as alarming. Speaking with Weekly Trust in Katsina, the forum’s chairman, Alhaji Lawal Audi Yaradu’a, said the manner in which Tata is expending resources to actualize his ambition called for caution.
Tsauri said it was difficult to explain how the aspirant who last served as an assistant director in a federal ministry could support such huge campaign expenses, stressing that it would be unjust on other aspirants just as Audi alleged that Tata’s actions called for proper investigation so as to avoid trading the Katsina Government House to the highest bidder.
“For Tata to be incurring such huge campaign expenditures proper care must be taken by both the party and the electorate,” he said, adding that this is a clear business proposal as Tata must ensure that he recoups his money if elected from the government treasury.
Audi said Tsauri’s campaign spending has been on for almost two years going and no-one has bothered to raise concern.
When Tata recently granted an interview in Daily Trust, a sister publication, he was reported to have said Allah was sponsoring him and not Vice President Namadi Sambo, as many alleged.
