A group, House-to-House Educational Initiative, has declared support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate General Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 presidential election.
Addressing a press conference in Abuja yesterday, national coordinator of the group Kunle Ehinlanwo said he decided to support Buhari because of the failure of President Goodluck Jonathan to fulfil the promise he made to Nigerians while campaigning in 2011.
He added that the group initially planned to support the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan, believing that continuity will better secure Nigeria’s democracy, but after careful analysis of the situation in the country, it decided to support Buhari in the presidential race.
He said: “We are not convinced with the performance of the present administration.
We have consequently decided to throw our support in favour of General Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who, we are convinced, is a better man for the challenging job.” Ehinlanwo said the group would create a platform for sensitisation and awareness to canvass support for Buhari. The group said with its convictions on current national issues, with specific reference to the development around the polity, it would advocate the promotion of good governance and pro-poor policies through national dialogue and intervention on issues of national development.
“We are beaming the searchlight on political development, to see how we can work with the Nigerian people and other partners to build the nation’s democracy and its processes.” It promised to mobilise Nigerians, particularly the youths, to ensure victory for Buhari and his running mate Prof. Yemi Osinbajo in the presidential election.
