Yobe State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam has called on Muslims in the state and around the country to imbibe the “reinvigorating and reassuring” lessons of the Eid-El-Kabır festival in order to have better society.
Governor Gaidam who stated this in a Sallah message to people of the state noted that the Eid does not only symbolize sacrifice but also patience, determination and forgiveness. He said imbibing these lessons will help build a society that is peaceful, respectful and happy and one which is productive and prosperous.
“The act of sacrifice should symbolize our willingness to give up things that are of benefit to us or close to our hearts for the sake of others. We must imbibe from the Eid-El-Adha the spirit to share with, and support our neighbors, the poor and the needy. This will strengthen our collective will to attain and sustain a peaceful and prosperous society,” he said.
Gaidam also spoke on the need for religious tolerance and mutual respect among Muslims and also between Muslims and followers of other religions, said Muslims “should always be good to others and show compassion, respect, kindness, love, generosity and faithfulness to all fellow human beings”.
