The Academic Board of Yaba College of Technology, Yaba, Lagos, western Nigeria, has expelled 73 students of the college for presenting suspected forged results.
A statement issued by the college made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday said that the affected students were those pursuing part-time programmes for National Diploma and Higher National Diploma.
Signed by the Deputy Registrar of the college, Mrs Titilayo Obadimu, the statement said the affected students registered for 2013/2014 academic session.
According to the statement, the results were discovered during the verification exercise of Senior Secondary School Certificates and National Diploma results.
It said further that 46 students for National Diploma and 27 students for Higher National Diploma were affected.
“All affected students are advised to hand the property of the college in their possession, including student identity cards, to their various heads of department, the librarian and the dean of students’ affairs with immediate effect,’’ it said.
Mr Charles Oni, Head, Public Relations Unit of the college, told NAN that the college had zero tolerance for all forms of malpractices and social vices.
He said that all documents presented for admission into the college were always subjected to rigorous screening.
He, therefore, urged prospective students to steer clear of malpractices, including results’ forgery.
