ONITSHA—About 500 inhabitants in Anambra West Local Government Area have lost their homes to the recent flood that ravaged the area.
Also submerged by the flood, which resulted from the overflow of Omambala River, were more than 120 farmlands and buildings in 11 schools.
Speaking to reporters on the disaster, a stakeholder and an aspirant for Anambra East/ West federal constituency on the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in the 2015 elections, Mrs Edith Ejezie, decried what she described as dire neglect of the area by the Federal Government.
Ejezie called on the Federal Government to dredge the Omambala River that always overflowed its banks every rainy season.
She vowed to empower the people when elected in the 2015 general election.
