The festering but supressed rift between the governor of Bayels State, Hon Henry Seriake Dickson,
The First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, on Thursday quit her position as pernmanet secretary in the Bayelsa State Civil Service.
Some reports indicate that her action might be as a result of differences with the governor of the state, Seriake Dickson.
The first lady has been accused by some political actors in both Rivers and Bayelsa states of meddlesome activities which often resulted in disaffection.
Patience Jonathan, who is popularly referred to as “Super” Perm Sec, was appointed in July 2012, five months after Governor Dickson’s inauguration.
It was learnt that the differences between the first lady and Dickson border on the politics.
The first lady is alleged to be planning to field a governorship candidate against Governor Dickson in 2016 had been suppressed by both parties prior to her resignation.
It is believed by the governor’s loyalists as the force behind the governorship ambition of a presidential aide, Hon Waripamowei Dudafa.
Reports indicate that the recent zoning of elective offices ahead of the 2015 polls was reportedly done in anticipation of the first lady’s 2016 agenda.
Bayelsa government official, who did not want to be named, said that the the first lady retired voluntarily, even as her entitlements had computed and finalised for immediate payment.
He dismissed suggestions of rift between Dickson and the president’s wife.
