A fire at two crude oil storage tanks at Agip’s Ebocha plant in Nigeria’s Rivers state has shut down production of about 20,000 barrels per day, a spokesman for Italian oil company Eni said on Monday.
He said the fire, which has not spread beyond the tanks’ containment basin, started on Sunday evening and firefighters were trying to contain the blaze.
“The impact on production net to ENI is approximately 20,000 bopd,” he said. “I can’t confirm when production will start again.”
The spokesman said the cause of the fire was being investigated.
