Finally, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Muhammed Buhari, has picked former Attorney-General of Lagos State,Yemi Osibajo, as his running mate, in the incoming 2015 election.
The nomination of Osibajo by Buhari is coming a day to the deadline to submit his nomination form to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), following long days meetings over who best fits for his vice-presidential candidate.
The choice of Osibajo, a senior pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, is meant as another effort to counter attacks that centre on Buhari as a Muslim bigot.
The retired general who is on his fourth attempt at the presidency has struggled to win support in the predominantly Christian South over his perceived religious standing.
APC has already started releasing some counterfactuals to the long- running perception of Buhari, as it tries to reposition him as a patriotic, diatribilised Nigerian passionate to serve his fatherland.
Osibajo is the choice of Bola Tinubu who is the main power broker of the party especially in the South West. In 2011, Buhari settled for Tunde Bakare but his presence in the ticket did little help for Buhari in the South West.
