The Federal Government is considering sending relief materials to refugee camps in Cameroon where hundreds of Nigerian citizens take refuge from Boko Haram, the North East Zonal Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Muhammad Kanar, has revealed.
Kanar said an inter-ministerial meeting had been organized by NEMA to work out modalities for bringing back the Nigerian refugees who crossed over to Cameroon where they live under the protection of the United Nation.
He said the meeting which will have the representation of all relevant ministries and government agencies may also consider means of sending relief materials to the refugees in Cameroon.
Kanar also stated that the number of registered Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in camps across the North East has reached 116, 000 while the number of those living with relatives outside the camps is much higher.
Calling on displaced persons to register themselves with camps, Kanar said federal government has providedN500 million worth of relief materials for victims in the North East and only registered persons can access the assistance.
The coordinator also added that the federal government has sent a team of architects to Chibok in an effort to reconstruct the Government Girls Secondary School Chibok where more than 200 girls were abducted by Boko Haram.
He said the school will be redesigned and equipped with modern facilities as well as improved security to protect students from further attacks.
