Mr. Babachir Lawal, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), has said that the Federal Government has leveraged on the gains of information and communication technology (ICT) to identify saboteurs in President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
Babachir spoke when he signed on behalf of the Federal Government a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Nigeria and Hauwei Technologies, China.
He said that the Federal Government has deployed ICT in tackling issues of insecurity, insurgency and economic saboteurs known to have fleeced the country several billions of naira.
“The progress made so far in the war against corruption, insecurity and other negative vices would not have been possible without ICT; it has been a major tool in identifying saboteurs in the government of President Muhammadu Buhari.”
Ibrahim Magu, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), had said that the anti-graft agency, working in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Finance and office of the Accountant General of the Federation recently uncovered 37,395 ghost workers in the Federal Civil Service.
He said, “I want to commend the company for establishing this ICT training programme. Since 2008, it has been a flagship of corporate social responsibility. This is because, today, we are all living witnesses to the role that ICT plays in our daily lives.
“I therefore wish to assure Huawei of the government’s unflinching support for the success of this programme and the government is indeed very grateful.” (Independent)
