FEC Approves N2.7 Billion For Rehabilitation Of Abuja Roads
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday approved N2.7 billion for the rehabilitation of some of the roads in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). It also approved the procurement of branded sports equipment for 981 primary schools across the county.
This was made known at a joint press briefing by the minister of information, Labaran Maku, his FCT counterpart, Senator Bala Muhammed, Labour and Productivity Minister, Emeka Wogu and Minister of Special Duties, Taminu Turaki, as well as Dr. Abdu Gullama, Minister Science and Technology.
According to the FCT minister, the roads to be rehabilitated would be in the second phase of the exercise.
He said the rehabilitation would be focused on failed roads in Garki and Wuse Districts of the FCT.
Mohammed said N2.5billion was expended on the rehabilitation of the first phase of the roads.
Mohammed said, “By the time we are through with the roads rehabilitation under this second phase which include roads in Garki and Wuse, we will be delivering FCT roads that will be in use for at least, the next 30 year.”
On his part, Turaki noted that the council approved the memo presented by his ministry to procure special sports equipment for selected primary schools in the country.
He noted that the development would boost Jonathan’s efforts in his administration’s agenda in the sports sector.
Turaki added that 981 primary schools across the country were beneficiaries of the scheme, with nine schools from each of the 109 senatorial districts that cut across the country.
