Thousands of Nigerians from all walks of life on Thursday trooped to the 60,000 capacity Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado-Ekiti, to witness the inauguration of Mr Kayode Fayose as governor.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the stadium was full to the capacity with dignitaries, especially from PDP-controlled states in attendance.
In his inaugural speech, Fayose appealed to the media to be objective in the reportage of government activities to ensure peace and development.
The governor, who said that the financial position of the state left much to be desired, appealed to the people of the state to cooperate with his government to move the state forward.
We shall continue with the people-oriented programmes, rekindle and restore people’s hope and create an enabling environment for the development of the state.
Fayose of PDP won the June 21, governorship polls with 203,090 votes, defeating the incumbent governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, who scored 120,433 votes.
Various cultural associations, musicians such as Yinka Ayefele, the Nupe cultural troop known as Igunu and other Yoruba groups at the occasion added colour to the occasion. (NAN)
