Ekiti State Government has said that the immediate past All Progressives Congress (APC) government of Dr Kayode Fayemi owed workers in the State, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members and the State tertiary institutions a sum of N6,955, 306,727.61. Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka said in a statement issued on Tuesday that “Fayemi’s APC government was so wicked that it refused to pay NYSC members there allowances running to N220, 855,000.00. He said; “Batch C 2013 was owed N99, 660,000.00, Batch A 2014 owed N50, 545,000.00 while Batch B 2014 was owed N70, 650,000.00 and entreaties by the NYSC members fell on deaf ears.” Speaking further, Olayinka, who declared that the “APC lying machine can no longer deceive Ekiti people,” added that; “N416, 839,038.11 August salary of teachers, which Fayemi left unpaid was paid by the Ayodele Fayose last week and that September salary will be paid soon.” He said; “September, 2014 salary of workers that Fayemi left unpaid was N1,556, 723,797.57 while N600, 081,961.33 deducted from workers salaries for the months of April, May and June, 2014 was not remitted to appropriate accounts. “Also, N1,564, 144,035.57 leave bonus was left unpaid while August and September subvention for Ekiti State University and College of Education, Ikere Ekiti totalling N1,461, 399,115.66 was not paid.” The governor’s aide said it was inhuman for the APC, which mismanaged Ekiti State economy, plunging the state to debts to be talking about ruling Nigeria. He said; “Instead of covering their faces in shame, APC leaders in Ekiti State have been going about peddling falsehood against the Fayose led government, apparently trying to cover up their wicked acts when they were in power.” Olayinka declared the Ekiti State will never return to the APC era where workers were treated with contempt, with their entitlements denied them so brazenly.
