The long hand of the law has caught up with Pa Dauda Akinwole, the father of the Peoples Democratic Party House of Assembly candidate in Ife East Local Government Area of Osun State.
The elderly man was arrested at 11.10am on Saturday (today) by security agents with an assaut rifle K-47.
According to reports, the assault rifle was allegedly found in the car of the PDP candidate’s father upon a search carried out by law enforcement agents who stopped him for a search at Ilode Ward 01, Ife Central Local Government Area.
Reports also indicated that in Osun State, the Divisional Police Officer attached to the Divisional Police Station, Ipetumodu, Ife North Local Government Area has ordered the arrest of over 100 voters known for their preference for the All Progressives Congress for alleged wandering.
The arrested voters had left their polling stations after being accredited by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Ipetumodu.
An online news medium, Eagle Online, reports that in a telephone interview with the DPO of the area he insisted that the voters were arrested for wandering and would be detained until the end of voting exercise insisting that his action was in compliance with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP).
It also reported that an All Progressives Congress chieftain in Obokun Local Government Council Area of the state, Otunba Jumoke Ogunkeyede, is feared dead.
Ogunkeyede was reportedly shot by hoodlums believed to be working for the PDP.
According to report from the area, Ogunkeyede was preparing to leave for his polling unit when he was shot. There are also reports that thugs loyal to the defeated senatorial candidate of the PDP in the last National Assembly election for Osun East Senatorial District, Chief Francis Fadahunsi, have snatched a ballot box not long after voting commenced at the Ward 2 in Oja Titun area of Obokun.
