Former Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mr. Azubuko Udah, Thursday, formally joined the Abia North senatorial race.
Fielding questions from newsmen after picking his nomination and expression of interest forms at the Peoples Democratic Party secretariat in Umuahia, Udah said he was in the contest to give his people quality representation at the red chamber.
His said: “Abia North deserves something better; Abia North deserves somebody that is God- fearing ; We deserve to have high quality representation at the senate; We deserve somebody who will go to the senate and put up sterling performance – Somebody with a pedigree and acceptable track record .
” I have served this nation for 32 years and nine months as a police officer and I never collected bribe for once. I made a lot of impact in the Nigerian police.One of the things I did successfully was writing memos and initiating the moves that led to amnesty that Mr. President granted to Niger Delta ex- militants.
The ex- DIG said he had served in all the geopolitical zones of the country, and possesses the pedigree and connections to ” turn around the lack of infrastructural facilities in Abia North.”
“This is a golden opportunity for Abia North people to have somebody that is humble , accessible and ready to champion their cause,” he said.
If elected, he promised to use his widespread connections to attract the needed developments to his zone with particular emphasis on job creation , human empowerment and infrastructure.
