After a 32 year drought, Rangers International FC today won the 2015/2016 Nigeria Professional Football League title, whipping visiting El-Kanemi Warriors 4-0.
Their last match with Borno team was one full of expectations as the club, which had come close severally in past 32 years but always come short, was just on the verge of reclaiming their past gory.
Everybody, the players, the coach, the fans and the government of Enugu State were prepared to do all things legitimate to ensure that this time around there is little or no margin for errors.
Fans spewed out in their thousands watch history being re-written for the Enugu club.
Players did not fail in the pitch of play. It was in deed a rain of goals as they put four unreplied goals through the El kanemi posts.
Chisom Egbuchulam opened the scoring in the 3rd minutes of play before Osas Okoro made it two for Enugu Rangers in the 42nd minutes then Chisom Egbuchulam sealed the victory for the Enugu clubside in the 64th and 89th minutes.
Rivers United FC of Portharcourt are second following their win over Ikorodu United. NFF president Amaju Pinnick and LMC chairman Shehu Dikko were all in Enugu to present the trophy to the club.
With this victory, Rangers will collect N40m as prize money.
Celebration was however subdued as substitute Ifeanyi Egwim suffered a serious leg injury.
