People of Enugu State weekend made clear their support for People’s Democraty Party (PDP) candidate in the state, Honourable Ifeanyi Ugwuany, when about 100 groups matched on the streets of Enugu to indicate their sentiment.
The supporters, numbering in their hundreds marched through the serene streets of the city
to demonstrate their support for the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
According to reports it was a carnival- like show which drew out youths, men and women in their numbers to make clear the direction the state is headed.
They danced, as they sing praises to Ugwuanyi, whose popularity in the state has been spreading like a wild fire.
They distributed campaign posters and handbills of their choice candidate were distributed to the residents.
According to the reports, the solidarity match was organised Renaissance Group, one of the campaign groups canvassing support for the success of Ugwuanyi in the February 14, 2015 election.
Multitude of supporters dressed in different attire and accompanied by live bands, marched from Okpara Square through major streets like Bissala Road, Ogui Road, O’Connor Street and Presidential Road before returning to the Campaign Office along Abakaliki Road.
Ugwuanyi who was elected by the mainstream wing of th party in a primary supervised by representatives of the national leadership of the party is facing challenge from the Senate Committee Chairman on Works, Senator Ayogu Eze and billionaire business man and chairman of Peace Mass Transit Limited, Mr. Samuel Onyishi, who allegedly emerged from primaries held by their own groups unsupervised by both PP leadership and INC officials.
PDP has however submitted Ugwuanyi’s name as its candidate in the forthcoming 2015 elections in the state.
