Coach Stephen Keshi has replaced the injured Stoke City forward with the Pride of Rivers player ahead of Eagles Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan
Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi has picked Dolphins forward Emem Eduok as a late replacement for injured Stoke City winger Victor Moses ahead of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier double-header against Sudan.
Moses, who was invited for the two qualifying games against Sudan, have been ruled out of the tie after he suffered a re-occuring thigh injury in Stoke City’s game against Sunderland on Saturday.
Eduok, who is a former Flying Eagles player notified Goal, on Monday morning of his invitation.
“I didn’t hear about [call-up] it until my coach [Stanley Eguma] informed me about the call up before our game against Abia Warriors on [yesterday] Sunday,” Eduok told Goal.
Eduok will be hoping to make his international debut for Nigeria in the crucial home and away fixtures at the Khartoum Stadium, Khartoum on Saturday and the National Stadium, Abuja on Wednesday respectively.
Nigeria need to get the title defence hopes back on track accuring six points against pointless Sudan after they managed only a point from two games in Group A.
Congo are group leaders with six points from two games, while South Africa are second with four points in two matches.
