The Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Adewale Martins, has urged Christian faithfuls to embrace love and unity in order to build a stronger Christian community in the country.
Martins gave the charge on Saturday at Ikorodu, Lagos state, when he visited the catholic Deanery in the community.
He said that his visit was to encourage and support the spiritual growth of Catholics in the deanery.
He told the people that where there was unity, there was love and all things were bound to be well, adding that they should allow love to be among them.
“Where there is love, there is unity; where there is unity, there is progress; where there is progress, there is love of God, and there is a road that is leading to eternal happiness.
“This community should be like that first Christian community which was recognised by the love they had for one another.
“That is what should distinguish a Christian community. So, let this community be a further demonstration of the Christian community in the Acts of the Apostles,” Martins said.
The archbishop lamented that many Christians paid excessive emphasis on their physical development at the expense of spiritual growth.
