The General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, said Friday that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under its former minister Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, once demolished 59 parishes of the church in Abuja in one week, but the Church was not shaken.
El-Rufai, who is currently running for the governorship of Kaduna State under the canopy of the All Progressives Congress(APC), supervised over the most far-reaching demolitions in the FCT when he held sway as the minister in charge as he set his mind to removing the master plan of the FCT.
Adeboye, who was demonstrating the power of thanksgiving in a sermon at the Special Holy Ghost Service held at the Redemption Camp on Friday through to early Saturday morning, said that by the time the demolition took place God had gone ahead to prepare the Church for it by causing exponential growth such that other parishes of the Church were able to help in absorbing the shock.
He spoke purely as part of his testimony for the great thing God when men thank Him. No political import was intended atal.
According to him, prior to that God had told him in a revelation that he should thank him without making prayer requests for two months.
Pastor Adeboye told the hundreds of thousands of people that attended the annual March Holy Ghost Service that they should learn to express thanks to God, saying it should not be always that Christians shouldlw make prayers of request.
He counseled that men should learnt to give thanks to God for the God things he has done.
The large auditorium of the RCCG, Redemption City, was almost filled to capacity during the special event.
