Suspected Fulani insurgents on Saturday lunched another attack on Koro community in Assokio, Lafia East Development Area of Nasarawa State, killed not fewer than eight persons and burnt over 60 houses.
Investigation by SUNDAY PUNCH revealed that the insurgents who came in their hundreds attacked the community with AK 47 rifles in the early hours of Saturday shooting sporadically, killing and displacing hundreds of people without any challenge by security operatives.
It was gathered that the insurgents carted away food items, motorcycles and other valuables the attack.
Speaking to SUNDAY PUNCH in an interview, Mr. Ajeh Amodu, a resident of Koro community who escaped from the attack to Lafia the state capital stated.
“We woke up this morning and set to go about our normal activity; suddenly, Fulani came and started shooting, I ran for my dear life. As I speak, I don’t know the whereabouts of my wife and children.
“We are Migili (Koro), we are not Eggon we don’t know the offence we committed to deserve the attack. We are living peacefully. I am appealing to the state government to come to our aid.’’
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Nasarawa State command, Ismaila Numan, said, via the telephone, that he had not been briefed on the latest development.
