DELTA State government has completed over 1,618km of roads and 514km of drains since the inception of the Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan-led administration since 2007.
The state Commissioner for Works, Honourable Funkekeme Solomon who disclosed this in his welcome remark at the 21st edition of the National Council of Works in Asaba, on Monday, said under the urban renewal programme of the state government, over 345km roads had been completed.
According to him, 614km of roads amounting to N62billion were completed while another 212km totalling N47billion are at various stages of completion.
Solomon disclosed that 17 bridges, most of them spanning about 600m length, were completed at a cost of N16.8billion under the Bridge Development Programme even as another 25 bridges are at various stages of completion.
The commissioner told the council that in order to enhance free flow of traffic in the state, two flyovers at Asaba and Effurun being constructed at over N7.7billion have reached advanced stage, adding that the third had been awarded in Warri at a cost of N3.6billion.
