The admission of a Rivers State PDP governorship aspirant, Mr Dagogo Jack that all PDP leaders in the state rallied behind the leadership of former Minister of State for Education, Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike to rebuild the party in the state after the defection of Governor Chibuike Amaechi proves the general belief that only Barrister Wike has the capacity to lead PDP to victory in the next elections.
Despite the falsehood being spread by the governorship aspirants being sponsored by the opposition for the PDP ticket, it is heartening that the Kaakaki anchors of the African Independent Television, AIT, on Thursday led Dagogo Jack into this admission which has brought to the fore what Rivers PDP members and leaders already know, hence their determined support for Barrister Wike to deliver the state from the grips of a leadership that has failed the people.
Following the successful conduct of the ward and local government congresses, Barrister Wike like other genuine members of the PDP in Rivers State is prepared to participate in the governorship primary scheduled for December 8, 2014.
Just like party members rallied round Barrister Wike to lead Rivers PDP during the turbulent days when Amaechi attempted to publicly cripple the party, so they have agreed to support him to defeat Amaechi’s subtle sponsorship of aspirants to destabilise the PDP ahead of the general election.
Barrister Wike has consulted leaders and members of the party across Rivers State and is currently on the meet the PDP delegates tour of all the local councils to enter into direct contracts with the delegates and other members who are not privileged to be delegates in the forthcoming governorship primary, but will play significant roles in the party’s victory on February 28, 2015.
The Rivers PDP will remain solid and go ahead to defeat APC in the general election as it survived planned arson of its secretariat, survived several legal suits to impede the ward congresses and survived plots to violently disrupt the ward congresses. Therefore, the party would wax stronger, despite the falsehood and several sponsored frivolous petitions by aspirants who are not on ground in the state and lack capacity to lead the party at this critical point of its history.
With all Rivers PDP National Assembly and State Assembly members supporting Barrister Wike’s governorship aspiration, all serving Federal Commissioners from the state endorsing his aspiration, plethora of former National Assembly members, former council chairmen, former Assembly members, delegates , leaders, members, women and youth groups behind this project to liberate Rivers people, the sentiments being orchestrated by sponsored aspirants will amount to nought.
That Dagogo Jack public confession on AIT is just the beginning of several confessions by these aspirants. We believe that going forward, those of them who are committed to the party will re-trace their steps and join the movement of the people behind Barrister Wike for the good of Rivers people.
