Five Deputy Comptrollers in Nigerian Customs Service Customs Thursday night resigned their appointments.
They did not offer any reasons, but sources told The Rainbow that the DCGs resigned over disagreement with the management style of the new Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service, Hammeed Ali, a retired army colonel, who was appointed by President Muhammaed Buhari in August.
The DCGs that tendered their resignation are Atte A.J ,Musa T.A, Mera I.M, Nwosu A.C and Adewuyi A.A. While the first four signed what was viewed Thursday night as a protest letter , the fifth DCG did not sign.
In the letter which they addressed to the Chairman, Nigeria Customs Service Board, through the Comptroller- General, Nigeria Customs Service, said, “We the underlisted officers currently on the rank of Deputy Comptroller of Customs met today,29 October 2015 and unanimously decided to voluntarily retire from the service of Nigeria Customs Service haven (sic) risen to the rank of Deputy Comptroller General.
“We wish to thank the President for giving us the opportunity to serve our great nation,Nigeria.”
The presidency is expected to issue an official statement on the development on Friday(today)
