A Lagos Magistrate’s Court sitting in Yaba has remanded a suspect, Adewale Akinremi, for shooting one George Diogu to death.
It was learnt that the 29-year-old suspect committed the alleged crime around 8pm at a hotel on Ohafia Street in the Ago Okota area of the state.
PUNCH Metro gathered that Akinremi trailed the deceased, aged 46, to the hotel and shot him in the two legs.
No reason was given for Akinremi’s action.
The suspect, who had been on the run, was arrested sometime in November.
A prosecutor, Inspector Rita Momah, arraigned him before Mrs. A.0 Ajibade on one count of murder.
The charge read, “That you, Adewale Akinremi, on September 12, 2014 at about 8pm at the Light Years Hotel along Ohafia Street Ago Okota, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District did unlawfully kill one George Diogu by shooting him with a double-barrelled gun on his two legs and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.”
Ajibade ordered that Akinremi’s case file be submitted to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, while she remanded Akinwumi in custody.
The case was adjourned till January 12, 2015.
