The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) investigation committee is currently analysing samples from the collapsed building at the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), Lagos, its President said.
The President of COREN, Mr Kashim Ali, said this in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday.
Ali said that the investigation committee would also analyse the statement made by one of the persons involved in the construction of the collapsed structure.
“We had a committee set up that has been working. They (members) have gone to the site to take samples.
“They are doing a lot of work in the laboratory now to come to a conclusion as to the possible cause of the collapse.
“As for the individuals involved, we sent out that notice. Only one of them has come. And we asked him to make a statement which he has made and made some presentation.
“We have given that to the committee to evaluate. So it will be part of what the committee would come up with at the end of the day.
“They will evaluate his report and then come to a conclusion.
“For him as an individual if there is anything indicting we can now forward the report to the disciplinary panel for investigation before we can proceed.
“And if there is nothing against him, we will make everything public.”
Ali gave the assurance that the committee would do a thorough analysis of all written submissions to unravel the level of complicity or otherwise of the individuals.
“Honestly I don’t want to give a timeline. This is because we need more individuals to come forward and make their own written presentations.
“The committee will do the desk analyses of the submissions and then invite all the individuals concerned to shed more light where necessary,” Ali explained.
