About 12 persons believed to be students of the Ogun State owned Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, have been reported killed when a container crush a fully loaded bus.
Some accounts give the number of the dead as 18.
It was gathered that the incident occurred along Sagamu/Benin expressway near Ilishan Remo North Local Government of Ogun State in south-west Nigeria.
According to the commander of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Ijebu-Ode, Tommy Hamzat, the truck driver, who was driving against the traffic, lost control and collided with a bus heading towards Lagos and killed all 12 occupants including the bus driver.
“The bus was facing Lagos,though,I don’t know where it was coming from. The container-laden truck with no load in it was coming from Sagamu side, but it was driving against the traffic and that resulted in the collision, which eventually claimed the lives of the innocent people” an eye witness collaborated the account.
Report has it that the remains of the deceased have been deposited at the mortuary of the Olabisi Onabanjo university Teaching Hospital in Sagamu.
A spokesman for the police, Mr Muyiwa Adejobi, also confirmed the incident.
