Ward congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the election of three Ad-hoc delegates per ward got off to a late start in Cross River State, as distribution of materials started at about 2.pm on Saturday, causing an extension of the exercise into the next day.
This is even as one of the governorship aspirants in Rivers State in the 2015 race, Prince Tonye Princewill, has said he took a wise decision to abstain from what he called “the weak attempt” at a Ward Congress held by Nyesom Wike-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) executive in the state.
He said: “The Rivers State Wike-led PDP Exco don’t realise we are several steps ahead of them; none of the key aspirants were involved in the congresses. That should be a signal for the party. Our silence will speak louder than our words.”
Meanwhile, tension was high in Cross River, as the state party officials did not release delegates’ forms on time and names of aspiring delegates published were disputed
